A 4WD or AWD with good ground clearance is needed. By vehicle Noosa is 150kms north of Brisbane; it is a comfortable 1.5hr drive on the four lane Bruce Highway until you turn off at the picturesque village of Eumundi, famous for its Saturday and Wednesday markets.
A short drive from there to Tewantin, turning off Poinciana Avenue into Moorindil Street, this leads you to the ferry. Once on the ferry your adventure starts, crossing the beautiful Noosa river a small fee of $7.00 each way is payable. The ferry is opened from Sunday -Thursday 5.30am to 10.30pm, Friday and Saturday 5.30am to 12.30am.
Stop at the rangers station just before the ferry, and pick up a visitors information sheet covering the area, (there is soon to be a new Centre opening just next to the High Tide hotel). It is best to travel at low tide, check with the ferry operator on beach conditions and pick up a free tide chart.
There is a sealed road which takes you past the High Tide hotel/resort then on to Teewah Beach, there are 2 entrances leading onto the beach, the first cutting takes you to the river mouth only no beach access between 1st and second cutting. The second cutting will take you north alond the beach to Teewah. Take the time to walk down the tracks to check out the condition and which way you should enter from. Remember this is a designated highway, so all road rules apply.
Once out on the beach, Teewah village is approximately 10kms, you will see a sign that states No Through Roads In Teewah. Enter here and your hideaway awaits you
The Sunshine Coast Airport at Maroochydore is only 45 minutes drive from the car ferry at Tewantin.
